Awin supports the fight for racial justice

We stand in solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

We’re listening to those who have endured hardships for prolonged periods of time and are praising those who speak up against racism, inequality, injustice and police brutality towards the Black community.  

In response to the recent murders of George Floyd, David McAtee, Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and all Black lives lost due to police brutality and racial injustice, Awin joins you in this fight against racism and we will actively support causes that bring justice for Black lives. 

Here at Awin, we are committing to continue the conversation, both within our local communities and internally within the Awin Global family (by having these difficult yet necessary conversations). This week we joined #BlackoutTuesday.  As noted on TheShowMustBePaused.com, the organisation spearheading Blackout Tuesday, “Today is meant to intentionally disrupt the work week. Monday suggests a long weekend, and we can’t wait until Friday for change. It is a day to take a beat for an honest, reflective and productive conversation about what actions we need to collectively take to support the Black community.” 

We realise Tuesday’s self-reflection is just the beginning of conversations we need to openly engage in, even when they are no longer trending or in response to current media coverage.  We will continue to openly discuss the effects of racism and educate ourselves, and have created a taskforce dedicated to advising the ways in which we not only as a business, but as human beings can further tackle racial injustice and show our support for the Black Lives Matter movement. We’ve taken the first active step and made donations to Black Lives Matter Chicago and Black Lives Matter DC/Baltimore to help support the fight against combatting systematic racism and crippling injustice in our US offices’ local communities. However, we recognise that systematic racism isn’t limited to the US and is a global issue; something we will also look to educate ourselves on and support in the coming weeks alongside the taskforce. We recognise our actions need to be ongoing and there is always opportunity to do more. The pain in our communities and for many of our employees is real and the reality is, too many have experienced this pain for far too long. We know we don’t have all of the answers, but we know this: Complacency is not an option and we are stronger together.
