Get to know the Awin Events Manager, Lulu Olude

Coming from a background in Conferences and Seminars, Events at Awin are a very different and interesting experience.

No one event is the same as we run a variety across different Sectors, resulting in unique experiences and different networking opportunities each time. For example our quarterly Sector events such as Revive and Fashion Focus are a great way for our publishers and advertisers to network. We usually have a small networking expo session with advertisers from that particular industry exhibiting and also host speaker sessions from the network and a guest speaker that is relevant to the sector.

One of my favourite sector events is Fashion Focus, which we host after the Autumn Winter Fashion Week season in March. The production of this event allows a lot of creative input, which allows the event to have its own distinct identity.

There is the Advertiser Training Seminar, which takes place bi-monthly, where all our new advertisers are invited to attend a one day training session covering all the key areas you need to understand when running an affiliate programme on our network.

Not everything is all work and no play, we also run an annual performance marketing sporting event – SuperGames, which sets the industry’s advertisers, publishers, agencies and network staff against one another to win the prized trophy and title.

To add to the fun, the biggest event by far, is our annual Black Tie Gala, for which we host 500 people for a night of celebration and interaction. This event is a lot of fun to work on as it is a closely guarded secret, previous themes have included: 1920’s influenced - The Curiosity Club and Game of Thrones inspired – Mythica.

There are also a range of key industry events that we attend and also encourage all our advertisers and publishers to do so, such as, PMI London, Ad:Tech London, DMEXCO, Drapers Digital Forum and Marketing’s Digital Exchange.

As an Events Manager you have to be skilled at juggling various tasks and pre-empting things, before people even know they need them. The objectives of our events are to help nurture and create working relationships between our advertisers, publishers and agencies, as well as to inspire those that attend.
