Purpose of Position

As the leader of the Global Tax team (3 direct reports) at Awin, you support Awin entities regarding corporate income taxes, VAT, sales tax, wage tax, transfer pricing, withholding taxes, digital services taxes, tax compliance and all other tax issues.

Although you will be applying your acquired German tax experience by overseeing tax matters for our German parent company Awin AG, you will make sure that all other Awin entities across Europe, as well as other jurisdictions are properly supported by your team and external advisors.

Key Tasks

  • Lead a team of 3 tax professionals located in different locations, fostering a constructive and positive team culture.
  • Further develop Awin group’s tax strategy by also minimizing potential financial risks.
  • Further implement and govern the TCMS in Awin group.
  • Ensure tax compliance by timely filing of tax returns (CIT, VAT, EU Sales list, OSS, DST, Sales tax) and preparation of necessary documentation.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors and local tax authorities including management of tax audits.
  • Prepare estimated quarterly and extension calculations, and tax payments.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (IFRS) for current/deferred taxes.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments and Awin Group companies regarding identified and ongoing tax issues.
  • Collaborate on initiatives to drive business growth, leveraging your specialist skills.

Skills & Expertise

  • Master’s degree in Economics with a focus on Accounting/Finance or Master’s degree in Law.
  • Qualified German Tax Advisor (Steuerberater).
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience within Tax Advisory and/or industry roles preferably with at least 3 years of leadership experience.
  • High degree of competence in Microsoft Excel and ideally knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX or D365.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and to apply a hands-on mentality.
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow open items and tasks through to completion.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal in German and English), analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Global mindset and team-oriented with the ability to develop internal relationships and earn the respect of your own team and other team members across various functions.
  • Highly motivated to further develop on a professional and personal level.
  • Results-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated.
