Life at Awin

Ellie Woods

I joined Awin in 2016 as a part of my university degree and undertook a placement year on the Global Key Accounts team. I had no idea of what to expect at the time, having only covered affiliate marketing very briefly in one lecture on my Marketing degree! As a campaign assistant, my role was mainly admin based but I got to support the account managers on my team working on major accounts such as ASOS, Expedia and MyProtein amongst many others. I quickly grew to learn more about the affiliate marketing industry and even ended up basing my dissertation on the things I had learnt throughout the year. The year flew by and before I knew it I was back at university, sad to have left my team and brief working life behind! My team leaders at Awin had made it clear that I was welcome to come back on completing my degree and encouraged me to stay in contact. After doing some travelling and then graduating, I found myself walking back into the Awin offices in September 2018, eager to see my team again (which had doubled in size since I had left) and excited to start a new role as a Global Account Executive.

Working as an Account Executive on the global team means that I get to work with our international advertisers across our whole global network. It enables knowledge sharing and communication with colleagues from our offices all around the world and has meant that I have learnt about affiliate marketing in multiple different markets rather than just focusing on one. Sometimes this can be challenging due to the scope, however I feel it has given me a deeper understanding of the territories we work within. In my role I mainly work with travel brands and some of the things it involves are planning exposure opportunities, forecasting/analysing data to meet advertisers’ needs and helping to build lasting relationships with advertisers and publishers.

Working at Awin isn’t like working in a normal office – pick ‘n’ mix, ping pong and pool tables, beer fridge Fridays, in-house manicures, exercise classes and regular talks from industry experts means that at Awin you never have a dull week! There is a real sense of community within not just your team, but the company as a whole too. There are regular social events such as after work drinks, team bonding and Christmas parties which enables everyone to let their hair down and have some fun!
