Last week, Awin Benelux received a visit from 25 students of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein from Austria. They were on a study trip in Amsterdam and visited various (online) marketing companies all week long. Of course, we were prepared to welcome them with open arms and teach them a thing or two about our business.

As the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is coming into effect on 25th May, we have updated our publisher terms to ensure our network is compliant.

Awin Benelux has appointed Jesse le Grand as the new Commercial Director with effect from today. Jesse has already been member of the Benelux Management in his role as Client Services Director of the affiliate marketing network, but with the departure of Wanja Allessie, Jesse is now taking over from her.

Before it is possible to understand your obligations under GDPR, it is important to understand whether you are a data controller or a data processor.  

“Wablief?” Yes, you are reading this correctly because on Thursday May 3rd, we travelled from Amsterdam to Brussels to visit our Belgian neighbors during our Awin Day. This year, our event took place in the Beursschouwburg café where de Bijenkorf, Solden and VE Global were invited as guest speakers and have given us a very educational day. During the early hours of 5th April, our domain hosting service, Amazon Web Services (AWS), blocked the zanox.com domain which limited access to all the services that sit within it.

With fewer than three months until GDPR comes into effect, the approach of the affiliate industry is slowly coming into focus.

Last week there have been several issues on the Awin platform which we want to address in detail, including the cause, impact, when we expect them to be resolved, as well as preventative measures we have taken. Updates regarding the platform issues will be placed at the top of this blog article. 

Any company handling data has a legal duty to do so responsibly. In determining to what extent companies handle data, they assume a status that, in turn, has different legal liabilities.

Awin has always taken its data protection obligations seriously, and will continue to do so under the new European legal framework.
