Software Engineer - Angular (f/m/d)

Purpose of Position

As a Software Engineer you will be part of a cross-functional service-oriented team, working on extending and maintaining our Affiliate Marketing platform.

You'll wield your expertise in Angular to craft clean, secure, and well-tested code, following best-practice guidelines, and collaborating with the team to operate and enhance assigned parts of the platform.

You will have a significant impact in terms of efficiency, problem-solving, and mentoring colleagues. Additionally, you will work closely with the product owner and team members to translate user needs into technical solutions. Throughout the lifecycle of a service or product, from requirements to deployment, support, and maintenance, you will take a leading role, considering deadlines, balancing effort and outcome, and proactively addressing risks.

Your contribution will be vital in overcoming challenges and ensuring that our service continues to meet the needs of our business and customers.

The Team

You will be joining our Payments tribe, which plays a crucial role in the central value stream of our business. Our team design a seamless, fast and reliable experience for our customers to pay and our partners to get paid. We use an exciting array of technologies, including Angular, Java/Spring, AWS, Kafka, NodeJS, SQL/NoSQL databases, Jenkins, Docker, and more.

Key Tasks

  • Work inside a small team with a well described and groomed product backlog and be comfortable with agile methodologies and practices
  • Improve existing applications, design and build solutions from scratch
  • Develop code and contribute to reviews, retrospectives, planning and development sessions
  • Shape development technologies and practices
  • Follow best-practice guidelines and processes
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely fashion
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal (day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written forms (documentation, emails, communication tools) with local and remote team members

Whilst the above is a guide to general expectation of the role, we expect this position to evolve allowing you greater scope to gain both knowledge and experience within the online and affiliate marketplace.

Skills & Expertise

Required

  • At least 3 years of commercial Software Engineering experience
  • Proven track record with Angular
  • We work with Angular 15 at the moment, and upgrading as we can
  • Understanding of unit and functional testing
  • Familiar with Agile processes, especially Scrum
  • Passion for writing elegant code and a desire to constantly refactor and improve, with a good understanding of SOLID, design principles and OOP
  • Understanding basic Data Structures and Algorithms

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of streaming and queuing solutions (e.g. Kafka)
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, design patterns, relational databases.
  • First experience working with Cloud technologies (ideally AWS)
  • Understanding the concepts of DDD
  • Experience with any other major programming language: Python, C#, JavaScript, GoLang, etc.
  • Comfortable with applying continuous integration and deployment
